Projects

Biodiesel - Major Plant Upgrade

Location: Iowa
Task
Rebuild and re-commission original plant to run on ASME quality biodiesel in place of commercially non-viable refined vegetable oil. Upgrade includes technology upgrade.

Key Project Construction Scope

  • Hazardous operations assessment
  • Design, procurement, and construction of Degumming, Acid Esterification, Caustic Refining, Bleaching Winterization modules.
  • Integration of existing and new mechanical, electrical, utility and control systems.
  • Hire and train staff.
  • Environmental, health and safety compliance and program creation.

CO2 Liquefaction

Location: Kansas
Task
Install CO2 Skids, scrubber and ammonia refrigeration system for producing food-grade, liquefied CO2 from ethanol plant fermenters.

Liquid Malt Extraction Plant

Location: Ohio
Task
Design, construct, and commissioning a liquid malt extraction plant. The plant brews malt extract for the baking industry. Project includes brew house, dry blending plant, liquid packaging, and rail and truck loading and unloading.

  • Rail and truck receiving and storage
  • Liquid transfer, filtration and processing plant
  • Liquid packaging (drums, totes, buckets and jugs)
  • Oil filtration, distillation and bleaching plant

  • Nineteen (19) process vessels & reactors, 10 ft to 16 ft diameter

Coconut & Palm Oil Refinery 

Location: California
Task
Design, procure, and construct a coconut and palm oil refinery and terminal facility. Plant imports and processes palm, coconut, and palm kernel oils. Facility receives ocean bulk cargo vessels and connects with local truck and rail routes.

  • Involved demolition of asbestos lined warehouses
  • All permitting except the Air Permit
  • Ship receiving, offloading and storage 800 ft of 2”, 3”, 4” and 8” offloading pipelines from dock
  • 77,000 ft of pipeline and process piping
  • API 650 Storage Tanks (carbon & stainless)
    • Four (4) 92 ft x 48 ft (2.5mm gal)
    • Two (2) 10 ft x 20 ft (11.5k gal)
    • Three (3) 18 ft x 36 ft (166k gal)
    • Thirty (30) shop fabricated vessels (2k-10k gal)
  • Oil filtration, distillation and bleaching plant

Ethanol - Milling and Grain-Handling Facility

Location: Iowa
Task
Increase existing ethanol plant yield by milling corn
more finely.

Key Project Construction Scope

  • Engineer, procure, construct, instrument, control, and, commission grain-cleaning and 1,400 horsepower of milling capacity.
  • Complete construction without shutting down plant.
  • Complete tie-in with plant during limited time shutdown.

Ethanol - Transshipment (Truck – Rail) Facility

Location: Iowa, South Dakota 
Task
Design, construct & commission an ethanol truck – rail transshipment facility involving 2 miles of rail, two (2) ethanol storage tanks and associated infrastructure in South Dakota with a 120-railcar, unit train capacity.  Build an ethanol truck – rail transshipment facility in Iowa.

Key Project Construction Scope

  • Construction of two (2) 48 ft x 48 ft storage tanks
  • Dual truck/railcar load-out facilities and containment
  • 6,000 ft of 4”, 6” and 10” pipeline & process piping
  • 200m in engineer procurement

Dual Malting Plants

Location: Colorado and Delaware
Task
Design, construct, and commission two malting plants of 23,500 and 25,000 metric ton per year capacity. The projects re-purpose a former potato starch plant and former grain plant.

Key Project Construction Scope

  • Involved demolition of asbestos lined warehouses
  • All permitting except the Air Permit
  • Install receiving, storage, transfer & loadout systems
  • Six (6) process vessels & reactors, up to 85 ft in diameter
  • Twenty-three (23) storage tanks, 12 ft to 60 ft in diameter
  • 48,000 ft of 2” to 12” pipeline & process piping
  • Grain roasting & bagging
  • Integration of multiple PLCs & intelligent MCCs into plant controls
  • Integrate Plant control system into client’s business system
  • Total plant control system
